Strandby Church looks completely different from the other churches in the area. It was built in 1965-66 after a drawing of the architect J. Blegvad. The small fishing town was growing in population back in the 1960’s and that created the need for their own church. The church often gets compared to a fishing boat from its design.
The modern marina is full of atmosphere created by the history of the fishing village Strandby. Completely new facilities that matches the villages proud maritime traditions. It is worth the visit for sailors, locals and tourists.
Strandby harbour, here you can find the famous “Frederikshavner Rødspætter”, a type of flatfish that can be found in Kattegat. Visit the fish auction during the morning at 07.00 AM, and experience the local community as if you were a part of it. You might even be able to get a plaice with you home for lunch. In Strandby they also have a child friendly beach and lots of fresh sea air. You will also find an active business life at the harbour with everyday groceries and every kind of maritime service you might need.
Flea market og fun Tuesdays
Strandby, have a lot of fun events throughout the year. But the really authentical events are “fun Tuesdays” from 16-20 where you will find the flea market. You can make a good deal at the stands and during the evening they will serve different types of fish. The evening will also consist of live music and beverages.
